Qualification
- M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry) or M. Pharm.
- Candidates with industrial experience in basic oligonucleotide, nucleoside, nucleotide, or phosphoramidite chemistry will be preferred.
Job Summary
The Chemist/Senior Chemist will be responsible for the synthesis, purification, characterization, and process development of basic oligonucleotide intermediates, phosphoramidites, nucleosides, and related specialty chemicals. The role involves laboratory execution, process scale-up support, technology transfer, documentation, and adherence to safety and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Oligonucleotide & Phosphoramidite Chemistry
- Synthesize nucleoside intermediates and phosphoramidites.
- Execute DMT protection/deprotection, phosphitylation, and chromatography processes.
- Handle moisture-sensitive reagents such as phosphoramidites, phosphorus chlorides, CEP reagents, and activators.
- Support oligonucleotide synthesis, cleavage, deprotection, and purification activities.
- Assist in process development and optimization for amidites and oligonucleotide building blocks.
Laboratory Operations
- Plan and execute reactions from milligram to gram scale.
- Operate reactors, rotary evaporators, vacuum systems, filtration and drying equipment.
- Perform reaction monitoring using TLC, HPLC, UPLC, GC, KF, and NMR interpretation.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks and experimental records.
Process Development
- Conduct route scouting and process optimization studies.
- Identify critical process parameters and process risks.
- Support technology transfer and scale-up from laboratory to pilot plant/manufacturing.
- Prepare process descriptions, batch records, and development reports.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain GMP-compliant documentation where applicable.
- Prepare SOPs, risk assessments, and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and data integrity requirements.
